This one can’t be too difficult. All I have to do is to take a rose that isn’t blue, and make it blue. I’m pretty sure there are a number of ways to do this, however I figured that the fine people at Google knew the best way to do it and after a few minutes of browsing I wandered off to the local supermarket and bought a dozen white roses and some blue food colouring. I was good to go.
I went home, found myself a suitable vase (actually found the only vase in the house, I was keeping pencils in it) and filled it with water. Then taking my food colouring, I promptly died my hands to make it look like I’d been murdering smurfs. This was not part of the plan, but certainly what happened. Once I’d done that, I tried to follow the general consensus on the plethora of websites one finds when they type “coloring a rose” into google. I cut the stems diagonally and put some plant food in a vase of water and a few drops of blue food colouring. This is what it looked like. Isn’t that lovely?
All I have to do now is wait for time to pass and hopefully we’ll have blue roses by the end of the week.
Okay, it’s been a week and if my internet guide is anything to go by, by now my roses should look something like this. It does not. It in fact looks like this:

Does anybody see the subtle differences between the two pictures? Yes, that’s right. Mine aren’t sodding blue!
Looking back at the website I realise that maybe I put too much food colouring in. It’s either that or the time I accidentally killed our tomato plants when I was a young boy and my mother chastised me by saying that I was probably worse gardener she had ever seen scared me for life in a manner some what akin to the way that The Batman was scared for life as a child. It’s entirely likely that I’ve been getting up in the middle of the night and subconsciously filling the vase with blue toilet duck to get back at the plants that caused such parental scorned to me in my fragile youth.
But I’m guessing it’s the too much food colouring or maybe not enough. I may have to try this again
